Selling Fees:

  • Listing Fee: £50 (refunded when the car sells)
  • Seller’s Commission: 5% of the final sale price 
  • Photography Fee: If you would like a professional to visit and photograph the car instead of sending in your own images it can be arranged. Fee is dependent on location
  • All fees are subject to VAT

Buying Fees:

  • Buyer’s Premium: 12.5% of the final bid price + VAT plus a 1% + Vat bidding platform fee.
  • Transportation Fee: Varies based on distance, contact us for a quote from one of our trusted logistics partners.


  • Easy – Vendor has absolute control of vehicle until collection.
  • No unnecessary transport fees or insurance fees.
  • Vendor is only required to send technical details, photos and videos.
  • The buyer arranges collection or transport.
  • Sound professional auction & marketing advice and prompt payment.
  • Global marketing and appropriate social media placement including a signpost listing on Ebay and Facebook groups appropriate to your vehicle.


As a seller:

  1. Fill in the below contact form, our auctioneer will contact you to discuss your vehicle.
  2. We will email you a form to sign digitally to book the vehicle into auction.
  3. Send us some photos (unless you are paying for a professional photographer) we suggest 20-30 photos, plus 2 or 3 videos (each under 1 minute).
  4. Potential buyers may wish to view the vehicle – this will be booked at your convenience.
  5. We will notify you after the auction that the vehicle is sold and once we have received payment from the buyer will arrange a day for collection at yours and the buyers convenience.
  6. Payment is made into your bank account within 14 days of sale (providing the vehicle has been collected).

As a buyer:

All of the vehicle auctions are listed on four bidding platforms;, Bidspotter, lot-tissimo and i-bidder. All current auction catalogues with a link to the-saleroom can also be found at the bottom of this page.

To bid you will need to register though one of these bidding platforms. Commission is 12.5% + vat plus a 1% + vat fee for the online bidding platform.

If you are the successful purchaser you will be emailed an invoice – please arrange payment by bank transfer with the details provided. We do not take payment over the phone.

We are happy to help arrange a quote for fully insured transportation of your new vehicle.

In our desire to become a carbon neutral company – we are pleased to announce that Humbert & Ellis Ltd will plant a tree for every car sold.

A single tree can remove a tonne of CO2 over its lifetime. 

This is equivalent to

  • 2500 miles by an average petrol car
  • 120,000 smartphone charges
  • 500 litres of diesel consumption

So at our year end, we will plant as many trees as cars sold on our holdings in Hertfordshire & Northamptonshire- to do our bit to offset carbon emissions. Together- we can make a positive difference..
